Teyuna (Cuidad Perdita - Lost City)

Tairona Culture, ancient city; from c. 800 C.E. to c.1620 C.E.; located in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, Magdelena Department, of Colombia; consists of 169 terraces upon which were built wood and thatch houses, tiled roads and several small plazas built on a very steep mountainside. Kogi tribe descendants of the Tairona now inhabit the highest altitudes of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta mountains of Colombia, and shun contact with the outside world.

Elevation varies c. 1143 meters (3750 feet) above sea level.

Materials: Stone. tree branches, mud and thatch.
