Basta

This PPNB (Pre-Pottery Neolithic B) settlement was built 7000 BCE. ,located 36 km. (22 mi.) southeast of Petra, Jordan. It is one of the earliest known settled populations who grew crops and domesticated livestock. Dwellings were single family homes. Researchers found the earliest evidence of social endogamy. The dead were buried underneath the dwellings, to better remember ancestors.

Elevation above sea level is 1,460 m. (4,790 ft)

Construction: Limestone walls, and wooden floors.
