Chandi Borobudur

Javanese Culture, Sailendra Dynasty, c.820 C.E.; Chandi Borobudur is a Mahayana Buddhist temple mountain in the form of a mandala, located in Magelang, Central Java, Indonesia. Found buried under volcanic ash by H.C. Cornelius, a Dutch engineer, in 1814.

Elevation is c. 266 meters (875 feet) above sea level.

Materials: local igneous rock construction layers over an artificial hill.
