Cochasqu Pyramids

Ancestral Quito Culture, Equador, fifteen pyramids, some with long ramps, constructed of compressed volcanic clay blocks, in use from c. 700 C.E. to 1550 C.E. No evidence of Inca occupation. Located north of Quito in Pichincha Province at 3100 meters above sea level. The top platforms had depressions, which, when filled with water, became astronomical observatories.

Elevation is c. 3044 meters (9988 feet) above sea level.
