Fenchu Elite House Chinese predynastic culture: Elite compound at Fenchu village in Qishan district, Shanxi. Built upon pounded earth platform raised 1.3 m. and measuring 45 m. north-south and 32 m. east-west the symetrical compound composed of main hall, courtyards, perimeter chambers open to courtyards, gatehouses and barrier screen. Construction , late second millenium B.C.E. Elevation is c. 670 meters (2200 feet) above sea level.
