Genessee River Housing, New York Urban Development Corporation Design Captain under apprenticeship with Conklin & Rossant, New York City, 1970 This project, designed under Bill Conklin and Jim Rossant's direction, gave me the opportunity to develop a large scale high density housing design, which I had been waiting for, since returning from a European Fulbright housing study. Besides working on the design and drawings for the presentation and publication of the project, I coordinated the construction of the model, built by I.M.Pei's model builder, Paul Crocker. When the model was completed, I drove it in a rented van to New Jersey where the great Lou Checkman photographed it in his studio. Watching Lou set up the lighting and background and angles was an invaluable learning experience. |
