Great Zimbabwe (Sacred House, and from Symbaoe meaning "Court")

Gokomere Culture (ancestral Shona Culture city), 1000 C.E. to 1400 C.E., located in the hills of Zimbabwe, near Lake Mutirikwe and the town of Masvingo. Great Zimbabwe is the largest ancient stone structure south of the Sahara, covering nearly 1800 acres. It is a Unesco World Heritage Site.

Elevation is c. 1160 meters (3800 feet) above sea level.

Materials: mortarless local granite, and wood.
