Jarvi Solar Residence, Anoka, Minnesota, 1975 |
The Jarvi Residence was my first professional architectural commission, during the time I was a professor of architecture at the University of Minnesota, School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture, and while also directing research on the first solar house in the Upper Midwest, Project Ouroboros South. Mr. and Mrs Roland Jarvi wanted a passive solar house that was also solar electric. Although the passive solar elements of the house were initially constructed, the house went without solar -electric panels for a few years. Recently the Jarvises sent these photos to let me know that their solar electric dream had been finally realized. [D.H. ] |
