Munhata

This site, first populated in 8300 BCE thrived through several different building phases, from the Pre-pottery Neolithic B culture (PPNB), through the later Neolithic, and Chalcolithic cultures, radiocarbon dated from 7210 through 5420 BCE. Located on a high terrace of the River Jordan, 15 km (9 mi.) south of Lake Kinnereth in northern Israel. PPNB phase had unusual plastered mud brick walls on stone foundations and platforms. While late PPNB building were almost always rectangular, in Munhata Level 3 a circular building was found with several rooms around a central courtyard, shown in the model here. Earlier rectangular building were over time replace by round ones.

Elevation is 215 metres (705 ft) below sea level.

Construction: mud brick on stone foundations with clay and reed roofing over wooden support structure. Walls (inside and out) and floors were plastered.
