Pu'ukohola Heiau (The Hill of the Whale)
Hawaiian Culture, Temple dedicated to Ku, the God of War, built by King MoiKamehameha in 1791 C.E.. Located at Kawaihae, Kohala District on the Big Island of Hawai'i overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The lower heiau, Mailenkini, is thought to be the origianal temple at this site. Elevatoin close to sea coast. Materials of construction; layered platforms of basalt, and temple in wood and thatch.
