Rivas and Panteón Site

Ceremonial site and gold-filled graveyard (Pantheon) of the Chiriqui Culture, located to the east of the Costa Rican town of Rivas on the west bank of the Rio Chirrup del Pacifico. Rivas housed about 10,000 people from 900 C.E. until 1300 C.E. on a 50 acre site.

Elevation is c. 850 meters (2788 feet) above sea level.

Materials of construction: stone foundations, wood structure and thatch roofing.
