Tutub Khafaje, Temple of Moon god, Sin

Sumerian Civilization; Temple of the moon god Sin; constructed during Jemdet Nasr-Early Dynasty, 3000–2500 B.C.E., built from 2900 B.C.E.; located on the Dayala River, tributary of the Tigris River, nine miles east of present-day Bagdad, Iraq. More than 200 graves were found mostly under the city's houses surrounding the Oval Temple.

Elevation is c. 43 meters (142 feet) above sea level.

Materials: sun-dried earth (adobe) bricks covered with kiln-fired glased bricks
laid in natural occurring bitumen, wood beams and columns.
