Cribbed Domes, (Hazarashen, Darbazi, and Pamiri)

Caucasus, Armenian, Turkic, Zoroastrian, North Pakistani, Tajikistani, Southern Russian, Georgian, and Azerbaijani Cultures, traditional roof system, from at least 4th century B.C.E. to present, and still in use. The house type is called darbazi and the cribbed dome on top of the beam/pilar combination is called gvirgvini. This wooden construction technique predates later expressions in stone.
